Es Mi Tierra

This song is called Es Mi Tierra, which means: This is my Land. It is a positive instrumental with background vocals. In a way, it is kind of political. There are no words other than “Es Mi Tierra”, This is My Land. What I mean is, this is my Earth-my land. What I was mean by it is, this is my music. This is who I am.

My brother Manny is on trumpet. Colin Monette, Colino Monette, cuz I think it sounds really cool and he digs the nickname too. Colin is actually French-Native. Great guitar player. He is my go-to-guy. Randy Evensen is on trombone and Todd Burrell on piano. Todd co-wrote this with me. He wrote the groove in the background. We recorded it at least 5 years ago. It was just a 47-second groove that Todd put together and he said: “what can you do with this”. And this is what I did. I created the term Es Mi Tierra and I think the reason for that was because of Todd and me when we created this together… It’s a great sound and I didn’t think that any other lyrics, other than Es Mi Tierra could describe the talent that we shared writing and I let the instruments do the talking. Timbalero means the person that plays the timbales.
